End of life care and euthanasia

It is certainly never easy to say goodbye to a beloved pet, and we are here to make that very solemn time more manageable by providing compassionate end of life care treatments and euthanasia when the time comes.

End of life care:

Some pets will require specific treatments and medications to keep them comfortable and their pain levels managed.  Our veterinarians are very experienced in palliative and end of life care, and will work with you and your pet to ensure that they are as comfortable as possible in the months, weeks and days prior to passing.

Euthanasia:

When you are ready to make that decision, our veterinarians will be with you every step of the way and our team can assist you with recommendations for after-care.  When the time comes, our veterinarians will talk you through the process and you are welcome to stay with your pet as long as you need to.  We will then give you the space and time you need to say your goodbyes. We know that this won’t be an easy decision to make, but please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or just want to talk about the process.

After care:

There are numerous options for after care:

  • Private cremation (ashes returned)
  • Communal cremation
  • Home burial
  • Donate to science for research

We use Edenhills for cremation services and they have many great resources on their website Edenhills Pet Cremation.  We also have a range of brochures in-clinic, and our reception team can walk you through the various options available.
