Welcome to Sonza Dobermanns & Golden Retrievers

Located in Kowen ACT on the outskirts of Canberra, Sonza Dobermanns and Golden Retrievers take pride in breeding quality dogs that have the conformation to excel in the show ring, the disposition and intelligence to make great obedience dogs as well as being, most importantly, a pet that the whole family can enjoy and feel safe around.  Health is paramount and we are thorough in health and genetic testing to ensure that our puppies have the best possible chance at living long and healthy lives.

We are experienced having bred numerous Australian Champions and obedience title holders over the years.  John is a licensed conformation judge for the Utility and Gundog groups and is also an obedience judge.  We started breeding Dobermanns in the early 1980s and started breeding Golden Retrievers in the late 1990s.  We are a small kennel and generally only breed a couple of litters per year.

We are very careful and thorough in selecting the homes that our dogs go to; we brought them into this world so it is our duty to ensure that they have the best possible chance of living a rich and fulfilling life.  If you don’t feel that you can take care of a dog and give it an enriched life for 10+ years, please do not enquire about our dogs!  You are making a commitment for the life of the dog, it is a huge responsibility, so we ask that you carefully consider the decision and complete some thorough research before contacting us.
